A walk between two resorts through alpine meadows and the authentic villages of Ensex and Taveyanne.
Starting from Villars, take the cogwheel train to Bretaye. From the terminus, walk a few hundred metres below the train station, towards Ensex, and admire the views of the Vaud Alps, Mont Blanc and the valley. You then come to the Col de la Croix.
Take the opportunity to make a detour to admire the intriguing geological feature of the gypsum pyramids.
Then head towards the Alpage du Col de la Croix, an alpine dairy where Etivaz, a cow’s milk cheese, is still made according to traditional methods. Then head to Coufin and the village of Taveyanne, where you can have a break at the restaurant of the same name. Take the path towards La Barboleuse, walking through forest and across its little bridges and streams.
The last few kilometres take you to the Place de la Barboleuse.
