Founded in 1947, La Garenne International School is one of the leading primary boarding schools. Owned by the Méan family, the school welcomes each year 80 boarding and 30 day students, from over 30 countries, aged from 4 to 14 years old.
La Garenne prides itself on an English-French bilingual approach. During the academic year, students follow the British curriculum (IPC & IMYC) from Reception to Year 9 class, and also develop a high level of mastery of the French language. In addition to the full time school year curriculum, students may also choose to join an "Integration Programme". This offers them a unique taste of academic and boarding life over a shorter period, after which some may choose to join the school at a later stage for the full academic year. In summer and winter, residential and day camps are offered with a well-balanced programme - language courses of French or English in the morning (from beginner to advanced level), followed by sports, cultural and leisure activities in the afternoon (ski & snowboard during the winter season).
Whether during the school year or during camps, La Garenne provides wonderful opportunities (languages, challenges, expeditions, charity projects, school trips around the world) that stimulate the children’s natural curiosity and teaches them valuable life skills. In addition to providing the British Curriculum, La Garenne is a CIS Member School (Council of International Schools) and a Cambridge / DELF-DALF Preparation Centre.
