The Refuge de la Tour d’Anzeindaz mountain hut is located at 1,880 metres on the Anzeindaz plateau, the biggest pasture area in the canton of Vaud.
Covering a surface area of about 1,000 hectares, these pastures are home to a rich and varied alpine plant life. In summer, you’ll find herds of cows, goats, sheep and horses there: a paradise for children. The hut is located on the Muverans and Diablerets Trails.
There are various ways to get there, including the trail from Solalex, which is a one hour walk along the Avançon. You’re then surrounded by the imposing Diablerets mountains on one side and the Miroir d’Argentine on the other. You can also get there on foot from Derborence in 2 hours. If you can’t walk, it’s a 15 minute trip via a 4x4 taxi service from Solalex or Barboleuse. Booking required.
This mountain hut was built in the early 1900s and has bedrooms (sleeping 10) and dormitories (8 dormitories sleeping a total of 76), with full board, half-board or accommodation only options. So it’s ideal for groups, training camps, conferences and weddings. There’s a fabulous terrace seating 80 people so you can soak up the sunshine while gazing at the wonderful views. Whether you’re passing through or staying the night, enjoy the varied menu offered by Dany and Léon, who run the hut from June to October.
