Located on Glacier 3000, the atypical Refuge de l’Espace enjoys a unique, privileged location above Derborence. It offers regional dishes that can be enjoyed while admiring the stunning view from the terrace.
The Refuge de l’Espace certainly offers one of the most spectacular views to be had in the Vaudois Alps!! It nestles at an altitude of 2,860 metres on the slope of the Diablerets massif, at the foot of Quille du Diable. The cordial welcome of the restaurant staff is heart-warming in these cold surroundings. The restaurant offers a beautiful terrace and meals based on regional products. Must-taste dishes are warm tomme Fleurette de Rougemont with truffle oil and fried potato cubes, “Schüblig” with Bénichon mustard and fried potato cubes as well as home-made desserts such as tatin tart and chocolate cake.
Playful jackdaws can often be seen around the terrace and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to spot some of the majestic bearded vultures that nest nearby. Sipping a “Yeti” tea or a “Refuge” coffee, guests can discover the history and legend of the 1714 landslide and the famous Quille du Diable. Children and adults alike will be transposed to another world at the Refuge de l’Espace
Access on foot: 45 minutes’ walk on a marked and secure path from the arrival of the cable car. Access with skis, snowbus (on advance booking in winter), by plane or helicopter.
Large terrace with a spectacular view of the Alps
When the Glacier is closed (closing of the cable car), the Refuge de l'Espace is also closed.
