Les Diablerets - Col du Pillon - Gstaad - Chateau d'Oex - Col des Mosses - Aigle - Villars - Col de la Croix - Les Diablerets
The trilogy consisting of the Col du Pillon, Col des Mosses and Col de la Croix is a Vaud Alps classic.
Starting from Les Diablerets, the Col du Pillon is short (5 km). Once you get over the top, you enter the German-speaking part of Switzerland and then after going through Saanen at km 24, you return to French-speaking Switzerland.
In Château d’Oex (km 35) take a left towards Col des Mosses. The climb is interspersed with flat sections and crosses the village of l’Etivaz (km 43), famous for its cheese of the same name. The pass (1445m) is at km 51, prior to a long descent down to Aigle (km 69).
The Col de la Croix climb starts just before Ollon (km 72). You need to manage your energy carefully to complete this 18 km section with a change in height of 1200 m! After the summit at 1778 m, all that remains is an 8 km descent back to Les Diablerets.
Tip: Stop at the l’Etivaz cheese farm to sample the local speciality. The best energy foods are natural ones!
