Running from Les Diablerets to Aigle in the Vaudois Alps, the Vallée des Ormonts is a region full of traditions and with a rich heritage. To preserve and share these traditions, the Musée des Ormonts in Vers-l’Eglise, near Les Diablerets, organises temporary exhibitions, open from Wednesday to Sunday.
Opened in 2008 in the old post office building in the village of Vers-l’Eglise, the Musée des Ormonts aims to preserve local traditions and heritage, carry out new research and share this knowledge with the public, in the form of exhibitions, publications and audio-visual recordings.
The Musée des Ormonts covers a wide range of subjects including historical architecture, geology, the study of place names, natural hazards, alpine economy and everyday life. Through animated and entertaining exhibits, visitors come away feeling a secret of the Alps has been revealed.
Founded by an association created in 1989, following the legacy bequeathed by Mrs Suzanne Combremont, the museum’s aim is to share the many aspects of the valley’s history through temporary exhibitions.
« LES ORMONTS, REGARDS DE PEINTRES » :
The valley of Les Ormonts have inspired many painters who stayed in since the 19th century. Known or unknown, popular or forgotten, they observed the landscape in their own way and decided to paint all the places which they appreciated.
